With your love of comics and RPGs – I’m suprised your not talking about the new DCU RPG from Green Ronin. Its a great supers system based on Mutants and Masterminds.

    Hello Popgun!

We would love if you gave a review of our new album! We’re Galactaron. We’re from space. Nice to meet you!

We highly suggest listening to it as one cohesive piece because it is an electronic musical, the story of our visit to Earth. It covers the excitement of meeting Emily Wong, a Chinese-American and our first human, through the turmoil of government intervention and culture shock.

Here is the album, free for streaming: http://soundcloud.com/galactaron/sets/galactaron

Also we have lots of pictures on our facebook page of what we look like.

    Hope you enjoy!

    Hi-

Matt Mogk head of Zombie Research Society here.

Just wanted to say your article on comic book distribution was extremely interesting and informative. Here is the one I am referring to:

Would love to pick your brain about the comic book industry if you have some time to set up a quick phone call.

    Thanks!

    Dear Mr. Walker,
I read your article on “Whatever Happened to the Big Red Cheese” and it was very informative on my main man Billy Batson and his alter ego Captain Marvel/Shazam. (my stance on the naming is that the New 52 and onward name for Billy’s hero ego is Shazam and everything set before that and in Fawcett publications is Captain Marvel or the Champion).
I am writing because I am curious to know what your opinions are on the New 52 rendition of the Big Red Cheese and whether you would add a supplement to your article on the topic. Personally, I didn’t like the New 52 Billy at first but with time he grew on me as John’s stance is that just like evil, good is something that someone can become. Although, with what happened in Forever Evil I find it funny that the instance Billy becomes a hero the next day he is owned by the Crime Syndicate.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

      Michael,

Thanks so much for the comment! I will for sure get to talking about the New 52 version of Shazam because I’ve got quite a bit to say about it. Personally, I like some parts of it, but feel like Johns is playing it a bit too safe. That’s all I’ll say for now, but stay tuned because I plan on writing more Captain Marvel articles in the future.

    Hi,

I am also a big Captain Marvel fan, though the New-52 version did feel refreshing. I noticed you had an interview with Mark Waid, and I’m curious is there any way for me to contact him or email him as you did?

I also have a question regarding Captain Marvel,

    Thanks

I’m glad you liked my Captain Marvel writing. I’ll be doing more on it in the future. I honestly don’t remember how I got his contact info because it’s been so long, but you could always go to his website Thrillbent and contact him through there.

Thank you for the response and no problem, because your Captain Marvel writing is interesting. It’s also interesting that they announced a planned Shazam movie, so it seems DC are heading into a new direction with him.

Mmmmh, I guess I’ll try through his website. Thanks.

    Cody,

First off I want to congratulate you on the wonderful “The Anatomy of Zur-En-Arrh” it was a phenomenal and intelligent read.

One of the things that was obvious in Morrison’s run was his intention to bring every Batman story into continuity. I’m wondering if that wasn’t strictly just about the comics or television series. When I first read The Return of Bruce Wayne my mind quickly recalled the action figure line of the 1990s – Legends of Batman (http://www.legionsofgotham.org/FIGUREScomicLOB.html) where Batman is given numerous makeovers to fit any story/time period. The key elements of the Batman costume remained – the cowl and symbol but much of the costume was transformed to fit that particular theme. A Pirate Batman and an aptly titled “Dark Rider” Batman were part of this line. And the Desert Knight Batman bares a resemblance to the Heretic (from Batman Inc.). Other figures include Samurai Batman and Egyptian Batman which adds to your discussion on franchising. I was wondering if you found any connection to Morrison acknowledging this line and trying to bring it into play. Or is just coincidence?

Thanks so much for the kind words about the book! I really do appreciate it!

I think either Bleeding Cool or Newsarama posed the same question about the LotDK toys at the time Return of Bruce Wayne came out and when I went back to research it, I couldn’t find the article any longer. So, unfortunately, I can’t find any specific connection that Morrison has made to the toy line, but it is certainly fun to speculate and think about. I honestly wouldn’t doubt if that’s where some of the inspiration came from.

Personally, I like to think of it as Morrison showing that Batman can fit in any genre and it somehow works. He can be a caveman, or a witchhunter, or a pirate and it all still works. Even the time travel part works!

It’s really the ultimate middle finger to anyone who says Batman can ONLY be ONE thing.

    Cody,

I enjoyed your book on Morrison’s Batman tremendously. I have been writing an article off and on for years now about the problems with synthesizing free-will within Morrison’s greater DC Cosmology. I’ve written for Bleeding Cool before, and Rich indicated he would probably run this article if I ever got around to finishing it. If it’s not too much trouble, would you mind emailing me at ? I would email you myself, but I couldn’t find an address for you online. I would like to ask you a couple of quick things about a few points you made in your book. I really appreciate your time, and thanks again for taking the time to write your book.

  9. Dear Mr. Walker,

My name is James George (AKA; The GYPSY), I am the Curator of Exhibits at QUINCY STREET Conference & Event CENTER in Topeka, Kansas; I am also the Event Coordinator for TOPCON Topeka’s First Ever Comic Book and Game Convention.
Mat Rothwell, the manager of Vintage Stock, suggested I contact you about making an appearance at TOPCON. We would be honored to have you at the Con and have give a talk and do a book signing of NOIR and NOIR: ONE OF MY TURNS.
I have contacted Nathan Judah about appearing at TOPCON as an invited guest artist. I would also like to contact your co-author Richard G. Valerius to see if he would like to be a guest author along with you also.
TOPCON is Saturday September 20th. I apologize for the short notice on this invitation but if we discover that the interest level for this event was what we expect it to be we will be expanding the Con in 2015 and you will be a welcomed and invited guest author to that event also.
Here is a link to the Facebook Event Page I look forward to hearing from you. I have talked to a couple of people who have read your graphic novel and they say it is awesome. I am looking forward to reading both books myself and will be doing so later this evening.

    Thank you for your consideration.
