My friend Aimee over at Kawaii K*tsch is a comic fan and I wanted to share her perspective on comics, so check it out and enjoy because yes, Virginia, girls DO like to read comics!
Comic books and manga are not just for kids and especially not just for men, so I would like to spotlight some cute comics, along with some of my favorites that are just amazing works of art.
First and foremost I have to talk about my FAVORITE comic book character of all time:
She-Hulk
She-Hulk or Jennifer Walters is a BIG green woman who is not only a beautiful superhero but a powerful lawyer. She received her giant green demeanor from her cousin The Hulk during a blood transfusion. I first started reading She Hulk when it was the Sensational She-Hulk, she was more of a Barbie look-alike that fought crime at that point, but those are some of my favorite issues. I think I liked how she was large and in charge (I’m pretty tall) She-Hulk has been a part of many different super hero groups like The Fantastic Four and The Avengers. She is even a character in the new Marvel Vs. Capcom 3! She may be a female comic character that is often overlooked, but she’s the best in my book.
Manga- Neko Ramen and Chi’s Sweet Home
I usually enjoy reading either gritty, violent mangas or mangas that are unbelievably cute. These two are very quirky and cute. Neko Ramen is about a cat that owns his own ramen shop (I know hilarious) all sorts of cat comedy ensues. Chi’s Sweet Home is about a little stray kitty that lands itself in the Yamada household, they can’t have cats in their apartment but that doesn’t stop little Chi. Here is one of the anime shorts:
sooooo cute!
Vintage Romance Comics
I LOVE looking up old vintage romance comic covers, there are also some really funny quizzes and stuff that you can find from them. I love looking at all of the vintage clothing styles and how absurd some of them can be, yeah they might put women back a bit, but they are hilarious!
Check out some of these titles for a good read!
